The Cost of Entry Is Low—And That’s the Problem in Network Marketing

One of the biggest advantages in our profession is also one of its biggest problems.

The low cost of entry in network marketing makes it incredibly easy for people to join—regardless of background, income level, or education. On the surface, that’s a good thing. It opens the doors of entrepreneurship to virtually anyone.

But there’s a downside that too many people don’t want to talk about…

Because it’s so easy to get in, people don’t take it seriously. They treat their business like a $99 hobby—and then wonder why they’re not getting $10,000 results.

In this episode, I talk about what happens when people come in with no skin in the game, and why mental investment is more important than financial investment if you actually want to succeed.

Below is the exact Facebook post I shared that gained massive traction. It resonated for one simple reason—it’s true.

    Original Facebook Post:

Let’s talk about one of the biggest double-edged swords in network marketing…

It’s too cheap to get in.

And before you shout “but that’s a good thing!”—yeah, I know.
I’ve been in this game for 35 years. I’ve seen the upside.
But let’s not ignore the downside… because it’s real, and it’s hurting people.

Network marketing has one of the lowest barriers to entry of any business model on the planet.

    • You don’t need a storefront.
    • You don’t need to hire employees.
    • You don’t need to carry huge overhead.
    • You don’t even need a degree.

In fact, in many companies, you can start for less than it costs to eat out.

    And that’s exactly the problem.

Because when something costs very little, it’s valued very little.

People come in with zero skin in the game… and then wonder why they treat the business like a hobby.

They show up when they “feel like it.”
    They dabble.
    They ghost their upline.
They never go through the training.
And then… 3 weeks later, they say “this doesn’t work.”

    No. You didn’t work.

If people bought a McDonald’s franchise for half a million dollars, do you think they’d miss a training?

Do you think they’d take weekends off to “get their head straight”?

    Hell no.
They’d be all-in because they’d be too afraid to lose what they put on the line.

Network marketing can change your life.

    It can provide real income.
It can give you freedom—if you treat it like a business.

    But most won’t.

Because most don’t have enough invested to care.

The truth is… the easier it is to get in, the easier it is to get out.

And that’s why you see so much turnover.
People quit before they ever start.
Not because they aren’t capable—but because they had nothing to lose.

    I’ve said it for years:
Until you mentally invest like you dropped $250K on this thing, you’ll never treat it with the seriousness required to win.

    So if you’re in…
    Get all the way in.

    Treat your $99 buy-in like a $99,000 investment.
Study like your future depends on it.
Work like you’ve got something to prove.

Because if you don’t, you’ll fall right into the same pattern as everyone else who joined, flaked, and blamed the model.

Network marketing isn’t flawed.  But people’s approach to it often is.

A Couple Final Thoughts for you on this…

If you want to win in this profession, you don’t need to spend $100,000 to get started—but you’d better treat it like you did.

The people who succeed in this business don’t dabble. They decide.

They show up. They execute. They act like real business owners—regardless of what they paid to join.

If you’re in… act like it.

And if you’re ready to get serious about what to say and how to move people forward, the Little Black Book of Scripts 2.0 is your next step. It’s your unfair advantage for conversations, closing, follow-up, and more.
