    Overcoming the Fear of Prospecting: How to Face It and Finally Win

    If you’re in network marketing, you’ve probably dealt with the fear of prospecting. It’s that gut-wrenching feeling that keeps you from making that call, sending that message, or reaching out to someone you know could benefit from your business.

    Here’s the truth: that fear has to be dealt with. You can’t avoid it. You can’t hide from it. If you want to succeed in this business, you’ve got to face it head-on.

    In this post, I’m going to lay out a straightforward approach for tackling your fear of prospecting. It’s not going to be easy, but if you follow this process, you’ll get through it—and eventually, that fear will start to fade.

    Face the Fear: It’s the Only Way Forward

    The first thing you need to do is swallow the pill of reality: the only way to get over your fear of prospecting is to face it. There’s no magic pill, no shortcut. You have to go right through it.

    Stop running away. Stop making excuses. Stop letting that fear control you.

    Here’s what I’ve seen over and over again: once you start doing the thing you’re afraid of, you realize it wasn’t nearly as bad as you made it out to be in your head. But you can’t come to that realization until you take that first step.

    The Power of the “Linking” Strategy

    One of the simplest strategies I’ve found for overcoming the fear of prospecting is what I call the “linking” strategy. Here’s how it works:

    • Make your first call or send your first message.
    • Realize that you survived.
    • Link that success to your next call or reach out.

    This process starts a chain reaction. Each time you do it, the fear lessens a little more. You realize that prospecting isn’t the monster you’ve built it up to be. With each new exposure, the fear gets smaller, and your confidence grows.

    It’s about repeated exposure. The more you face that fear, the less control it has over you. Eventually, prospecting will become just another part of your day. No big deal.
